IEC Registration

IEC Registration- An Overview

An Importer Exporter Code (IEC) is a 10-digit number that every importer and exporter in India must have. It is issued by the Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce. Once you get an IEC, it doesn’t need renewal.

Importers need an IEC to clear customs, ship goods, and make international payments. Exporters need it to send shipments and receive payments from overseas. In short, without an IEC, no one can import or export goods in India.
